Position Summary


As an International Trade and Compliance Manager, you’ll play a key role in operations and creating various trade related policies, regulations, change management, and standards in how the company conducts its trade business from the APAC and EMEA regions into North America. In this exciting role, you’ll be the Subject Matter Expert on trade related issues, while providing operational processes and controls for applying securities on the company’s imports and exports processes. You will have the opportunity to take on complex trade challenges and use creative initiatives to implement solutions around trade risk mitigation, and trade and product compliance requirements within North America, and overseeing trade regulator changes and compliance efforts for APAC and EMEA regions.


This position will work closely with the transportation team, legal team, finance team, supply chain teams, the sales team, and the warehouse teams.


The International Trade Compliance Manager role is based out of Seattle WA office, and eligible for a hybrid work environment.


 


Key Responsibilities


Partner with internal stakeholders to build, enforce, and maintain trade regulatory changes from a global perspective regarding imports and exports

Advise on risk mitigation on a trade compliance perspective as it relates to the growing Supply Chain initiatives of the company

Create various Key Performance Indicators and mechanisms for controls around imports and exports while assessing compliance requirements to enter products into different countries within APAC, EMEA, and North America

Become a leader for several global trade compliance programs and initiatives including supporting global new product introduction efforts

Oversee and maintain CTPAT, Importer Self-Assessment, Reconciliation, and routine Customs escalations and trade related programs

Create internal policies and processes regarding country expansion strategies and development of cross-functional relationships for Importer of Record capabilities

Develop strategic and operational plans for trade compliance and in-country regulatory changes that will support the continued growth of the company

Maintain consistency and standards among air, ocean, consolidation, brokerage, and customs programs

Provide global customs and trade compliance guidance to departments and programs that will result in elevating the company’s global footprint

 


Minimum Qualifications


Customs Brokerage License

Product Regulatory and Compliance knowledge

IATA/ Dangerous goods certification

Adept in quantitative (statistical) analysis; proficient in analyzing regulations, experience with analyzing and interpreting data, and process improvement. Must be confident in reviewing all ACE Reports.

4 -5 years of relevant experience in in-house trade compliance department, indirect tax, trade law, trade regulations, or related discipline

Experience with global import and export regulations, specifically within the North America and APAC regions

4 – 5 years of experience with import and export regulations, compliance, and classification including HTS and ECCN

4 – 5 years in directly dealing with valuation related compliance efforts such as computed value, deductive value, assists, and various dutiable charges

5 years of working knowledge and interpretation of WTO Regulations, Title 19 Code of Federal Regulations, WCO Regulations, and GAAP functionalities

4 – 5 years of working knowledge and application of EAR

Resolving escalations related to Partnering Government Agencies (PGA), such as, FDA, APHIS, TSCA, etc.

Maintaining working knowledge in regulatory changes regarding trade compliance and product compliance governing or affecting international transactions

Working knowledge in advising, resolving, and maintaining a record keeping process around Conflict Minerals for various finished goods or raw materials

Proven track record of creating complex programs, or processes in mitigating various trade compliance and product compliance risks within a Global Supply Chain

Deep understanding of marking, labeling, and country of origin marking of goods from foreign origins

Deep understanding and knowledge of export controls and trade sanctions pursuant to OFAC and BIS, as well as knowledge of the same principals within the EU and APAC regions

Working knowledge in analyzing and resolving trade compliance risk as it relates to a Global Supply Chain

Working knowledge in identifying and implementing duty mitigation programs specifically for Section 301

Excellent verbal/written skills

Proficient in Window based applications including MS Office Suites

 


Preferred Qualifications


Policy creation skills pertinent to Trade Compliance and Product Regulatory

Six Sigma Green Belt

Customs Certified Specialist

FIATA Certified
