Job Description
Primary responsibility is the engineering development of snowboard binding products and working with the sales, marketing and technical staff to develop products that meet quality and innovation needs, delivery goals, value objectives, cost targets and budget limits in order to be competitive in the market. Essential Job Duties:• Product Development o Develop specific designs and technologies to meet category needs o Execute the design process and generate the files and deliverables necessary to create cost efficient, durable, and manufacturable products o Coordinate testing of the products and prototypes with focus groups and take a leading role in feedback meetings o Work closely with sales and marketing teams maintaining communication through the design cycle• Project and Engineering Management o Develop and maintain accurate specifications, tool lists and development lists for clear communication with the factory o Develop and produce materials such as product specifications, instructions and feature descriptions to support the sales and marketing teams in clear communication both internally and customer facing o Understand and drive timelines to stay on schedule• Quality o Set up specifications for quality control of product and ensure that Q/A processes are efficient and effective o Work with factory on initiatives to improve quality and efficiency o Be aware of user feedback, effectively communicate issues to the factory, and initiate corrective action plans• Innovation o Be educated and aware of industry and market trends, generate concepts and find creative solutions for design challenges that add value to the performance and marketability of the product and brand. o Avoid infringement of existing patents and create new ones for K2 where possible• Travel – Minimum Requirements o Development On-Site Factory Support in Asia (1-2 two week trips, three times annually) o SIA Trade Show and On Snow Demo (1 week in January/February) o International Sales Meeting (1-2 weeks in Nov/Dec) o Testing Travel (2 weeks throughout year as necessary)Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)• Proficient in Microsoft suite and 3D CAD design software (preferably Solidworks)• Proficient and avid snowboarderDesirable Qualifications:• Snowboard industry experience• Experience with design and manufacturing of injection molded components• Expertise in Adobe products (primarily Illustrator)• Expertise in 3D design and 2D drawing generation in Solidworks• Active and creative mindset and a self-starter
