Flow International Announces Co-Branding Agreement with Roxy Hardgoods
January 24, 2005 – San Francisco, California — Flow International, manufacturer and distributor of a leading brand of snowboard bindings, boots, and boards, announced today an agreement with Roxy Snowboarding for the production of a Roxy/Flow co-branded binding. Roxy Snowboarding is the women’s snowboard equipment division of Mervin Manufacturing based in Seattle, Washington. Anthony Scaturro, manager for Flow International and president of Flow USA, made the announcement today.
The Roxy binding utilizes Flow’s patented technology—including the PowerTriangle, Reclining Highback, and One-Piece PowerStrap—signature features that distinguish Flow from the competition. Identifiable Flow and Roxy logos are color-coordinated with Roxy Hardgoods’ snowboard boots and boards. The bindings will be manufactured in Flow’s factory for the 2005–2006 winter season.
“This is Flow’s tenth year building its revolutionary binding design,” commented Scaturro. “Partnering this advanced binding technology with Roxy’s tremendous credibility in the market will be a win-win for both companies. It will enhance the legitimacy and validity of the Flow design as an established category in snowboard bindings while offering Roxy customers a credible choice in their snowboard bindings.”
“We are excited to offer this high-quality product as part of the Roxy package of snowboard equipment,” added Greg Hughes, Vice President of Sales for Mervin Manufacturing, a Quiksilver subsidiary that also includes Lib Technologies and Gnu Snowboards. “Roxy has been looking for a high-end binding to offer as an alternative to our traditional two-strap bindings. Partnering with Flow’s advanced binding technology is a great fit that will enhance our story.”
Flow has been producing innovative snowboard products since 1995. As the originator of the reclining high-back binding, Flow introduced to the world a new wave of binding technology. Viewed as revolutionary, competitors have tried to imitate the reclining high-back, although none have seen the same success. Over the past ten years, Flow has become known for ease of use, comfort, and superior performance when using their bindings. Flow also makes snowboarding boards and boots and has introduced its T3 – Triple Threat Technology for 2005.
