Future’s Skateboard Trade News Plans to Launch Special Consumer Title, Skateboarding Buyer’s Guide 2005
San Marcos, CA — Future Action Sports, a division of Future Network USA and publishers of Skateboard Trade News, the only trade magazine to exclusively target skateboard manufacturers and retailers with helpful stats and editorial columns about the skateboard market and consumer, today announced plans to launch a 2005 skateboarding buyer’s guide. The issue will street on August 16 and be packaged with a fully interactive and branded DVD — an industry first.
Curtis Circulation, the country’s biggest magazine distributor, will put out over 100,000 copies with the polybagged DVD. This DVD, which will provide readers with an immersive experience to complement the magazine, will include skate-trick tips, bonus behind-the-scenes footage with pro skaters, and a skate montage. Future’s Skateboarding Buyer’s Guide will premiere at the September ’05 ASR Tradeshow in San Diego and at SLAM City Jam, one of skateboarding’s largest contests.
Future’s Skateboarding Buyer’s Guide will focus on providing readers with real buying advice and tips on the vast array of brands and technologies across the full spectrum of skateboarding. From shoes to decks to wheels, bearings, and trucks, if it matters, the Skateboarding Buyer’s Guide will provide the final word on it.

“Finally, a buyer’s guide done right! You can't just show pictures; you have to give the complete package, providing detailed product information so the consumer can make educated buying decisions. It’s great not only for consumers, but also for manufacturers and the industry as a whole — the extra attention given to the products will continue to help push our industry forward and continue to grow skateboarding,” says Steve Douglas, New Deal group UK and Dwindle’s strategic consultant.
Jonathan Simpson-Bint, President of Future U.S., says: “It’s a combination of commitment and partnerships within skateboarding and publishing that’ll make what we do succeed. We understand that Future is only one part of the equation. It’s the skate community and the readers that make up the other half, because at the end of the day, it’s really their magazine.”
