Rip Curl USA Taps B|W|R PPI as Public Relations and Sponsorship Partner for the Rip Curl Malibu Pro

B/W/R PPI Will Integrate a Host of Hollywood Celebrity Surf Enthusiasts with the Rip Curl Malibu Pro – the only WCT Professional Surf Contest in the Continental USA 

Beverly Hills (6/23/2005) – B|W|R PPI, the placement, promotions and integration unit of B|W|R Public Relations, has been retained by The Rip Curl Malibu Pro to help bring celebrity cachet to Malibu’s backyard, where the world’s best women surfers will compete for a piece of a $62,500 prize purse.  The Rip Curl Malibu Pro is a stand-alone women’s World Championship Tour (WCT) event on the 2005 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Women’s World Tour that takes place October 1-9 at Malibu Surfrider Beach in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to the main event, Rip Curl will also be hosting a celebrity surf bout for charity, featuring celebrities from film, television and music.

Of all the events on the tour calendar, The Rip Curl Malibu Pro is most unique because it is the biggest professional surfing event ever staged in Malibu, a place rich in surfing history and perhaps Hollywood’s favorite beach.  Rip Curl WCT rider Jaqueline Silva (6th in the world) will be competing in the event, and fellow team riders Stephanie Gilmore, Julia Christian, Bethany Hamilton and Alana Blanchard are trial contenders.
