Coupe De Shred Invades Sierra-at-Tahoe in December
The Sierra’s Premier Amateur Competition Has Expanded, And Is Set To Take The Lake By Storm Once Again In 2006.
Coupe De Shred is poised to be the biggest and most exciting rail jam of the upcoming 2006/2007 season. Scurvy Bastards Sales and Marketing is stoked to bring you this event for the fifth consecutive year, each one bigger than the last. Past years have brought in big names like Scotty Arnold, Chris Engelsman, George Oakley, Drew Fuller, Chaz Guldemond, Zach Hale, Kyle Clancy, Sketchy D, Jesse House, Nick Visconti, and Maribeth Swetkchof, all of whom came to throw down for the crowd. Participation has grown from 40 riders in year 1, to over 250 last year, drawing hundreds more spectators. This year that will be smashed!
2006 Competition Details:
Friday, December 15th
Kickoff Party at MFM’s own hotel: The Block for VIP Industry Insiders coming to Coupe De Shred. A DJ will be spinning and we will have plenty of distractions (a.k.a.: “refreshments”) to help reps forget about the stress of the road. You will also get the chance to be in the reality TV show “The Block” on the G4 network (which will be covering the entire event). Space is limited so book your room at The Block Today. Saturday, December 16th
After the band “Death Valley” featuring Cory Smith plugs in on the snow of Sierra-at-Tahoe (A Booth Creek Resort), and all the tents are set up in the “Sponsor Village”, we’re kicking things off with the Coupe De Gras of the Coupe De Shred: the war of the shores North Shore Vs. South Shore Amateur Competition. This competition gives local amateurs a chance to rep their coasts, show their skills, and prove to the snowboarding world which side of the lake rips harder. This is many amateurs’ best chance for exposure all season, breaking out their best in front of the Sponsor Village.
The competition continues with the first ever industry oriented competition: NorCal Reps Vs. SoCal Reps. The “Industry Throw-Down” invites Reps, Shop Riders, and any boardroom executives to come out and prove to everyone which companies are truly made by riders, for riders. Units sold and quarterly revenues don’t mean much on a gnarly s-rail. With the world watching, a company that can hold their own is going to leave a good impression on the industry, and those that can’t are left with the damage control. The pros will still be holding it down too, so anyone that thinks they can ride better can come out and prove it head to head.
Reps that rip can win prizes for their office (most of us call them “cars”), Malakye has already thrown in over $700 in gas cards for the prize pool, and all sponsors and reps that compete will be given a 10’x 10’ booth space in the Sponsor Village to do some business.
And, yes like R. Kelly said, after the party there’s an after-party. MonteBlue Resort and Casino will be hosting the official Coupe De Shred after-party at Opal Ultra Lounge. Where none other but Renee Renee will be performing live.
