Northern California Rep Agency Takes Operation to Next Level by Creating Sales & Marketing Group

November 29, 2006

A Breath of Fresh Air Emerging From the Depths of Davey Jones’s locker, NEW SALES AND MARKETING GROUP set to destroy all outside sales and marketing standards and expectations.

Scurvy Bastards Sales and Marketing Brings Together Big Names Of Snowboard Business In A New Concept, Total Brand Commitment.  Beyond sales Scurvy Bastards have a built-in marketing department for any company that may not be able to afford their own, and are well versed in contract event planning, consulting and marketing.

"Years of working as sales kids and managers in retail stores gives us the ability to relate to the consumer as well as the buyer in this ever changing board sports retail environment” says President Ryan “RV” Van Duyn who has been there.  A sponsored rider before becoming a rep, RV has been on both sides of the snowboarding fence, and saw a need to expand his influence in his territory of Northern California.  RV formed a representative partnership with Zach Lard, a Hawaiian who got lost looking for the surf and ended up riding Northstar-at-Tahoe.  They have worked together for the past five years culminating in Scurvy Bastards Sales and Marketing.

The partnership that RV and Zach formed was so successful, RV wanted to expand from a mere sales coalition to a marketing and coordination force.  He added Shea Brerreckman to the sales side, a former shop rider for Rider’s Union and team manager who “can drink like a fish”, and tapped the Marketing expertise of Kirsten McLoud as the sole bastardette to head the marketing arm of Scurvy Bastards as Vice-President.  Kirsten learned the ropes of the industry as one of the driving forces behind Grenade Gloves. Kirsten had full confidence in Scurvy Bastards prior to joining the team, adding:  "while at Grenade I hired RV and his crew on, and they quickly increased sales in their territory by over 400%.  So when RV asked me to be marketing for their crew I had no doubts that it would be a smart, profitable and fun venture."

As a team, Scurvy Bastards Sales and Marketing offers more than mere representation.  They are currently organizing the fifth annual Coup De Shred, a rail jam held in South Lake Tahoe.  RV and Kirsten will also offer their industry savvy in single servings in the form of contract marketing and event coordination.   This means that an action sports brand with a tight budget can utilize a fully experienced marketing department, complete with useful brand strategies for today’s competitive market.

With all of their combined years of experience in the snowboarding industry, Scurvy Bastards are following a new direction in the representation of companies, and forging ahead with a new concept for The future of the action sports industry.  "We really do this because we couldn't make it as Pro riders, but were totally pro at this".

Scurvy Bastards Sales and Marketing currently represents:  Grenade Gloves, Flux Bindings, Celsius, Stepchild Snowboards, Dinosaurs Will Die, Nomis Design, 241, and Sabrevision.
