Olympic Snowboarder Torah Bright Seals Deal with Roxy Rounding Out her Sponsorship Package with Hard Googs
Roxy Makes Plans to Release Torah Bright Signature-Series Snowboard, Boots, Jacket and Goggles
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - (January 23, 2007) - Roxy announced today that snowboardings's shining star Torah Bright has officially chosen Roxy as her sponsor from head to toe with the addition of hard goods. Having joined the team in 2000, the deal marks the continuation of a successful collaboration between brand and athlete.
To celebrate, Roxy will be creating a signature series jacket, snowboard and boots, in addition to another signature rhinestone-studded Torah Goggle available in winter 2007.
"I couldn't be more excited to be furthering my relationship with the Roxy brand.
From assisting the design team with the creation of our outerwear, to my signature goggle last year, it's been so rewarding to work with a sponsor that wants to involve their athletes on and off the mountain" said Bright. "I'm looking forward to making the most of this opportunity to not only ride the most innovative boards on the market, but help create ones that will hopefully inspire girls all over the world."
The feeling is mutual, as stated by Roxy Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Randy Hild: "Torah's mix of natural talent, determination, confidence and inner beauty make working with her a dream. We couldn't ask for a better person to put our products to the test and to show what our gear is made of."
Torah's charming approachability, uncommon beauty and impressive contest record-including 2005 victories at the Arctic Challenge and the Nippon Open-have made her one of the most celebrated athletes in the world. Torah charged on to the international snowboarding scene in 2002, when at the age of 15, she took second place at the World Snowboarding Championships Big Air. By the end of the 2003/2004 season, she had won the FIS World Cup half pipe finals, making her runner up in the final World Cup standings and earning her a Roxy sponsorship. With two 2005 World Cup bronzes, she qualified for the 2006 Australian Olympic Team. Unfortunately, she missed the medal podium, placing fifth. But her loss only seems to have made her more determined. In the month following the Games, she scored three consecutive international wins at the Vans Cup, the World Superpipe Championships and the US Open Half Pipe. And at the 2006 X Games, she won a silver medal for what many are calling the most technical women's Pipe combo in history-a "backside 360" to a "switch backside 540" and a "switch frontside 720."
Torah spends the entire year on the slopes, splitting her time between two hemispheres and two winters in Salt Lake City and her hometown of Cooma. Her intense work ethic pays off: her signature "McTwists" and "Cab 540s" are the highest of any woman out there.
