Over 135 New Brands Debut at ASR this September

ASR returns to San Diego this September 7-9th with over 135 new brands on board. Companies looking to enter the action sports industry through ASR span the hottest up-and-comers from action sports to boutique and urban fashion.

“The enormous influx of new-to-ASR brands indicates that this is the event emerging brands look to for a strong start in action sports.  In addition, established brands utilize ASR for new product launches and to expand their reach,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Show Director. “More and more companies look to ASR as the way to connect with the most desirable action sports specialty, department store and fashion boutique buyers from around the world.”

There is an impressive line up of hot, new swim lines exhibiting at ASR this September. Some of the new-to-ASR swim lines include Volcom, Reef, Original Penguin, True Religion, B.Bikinis, RYGY, Onda De Mar, and Sorbert. Boosted by the success of the ASR Runway Show co-sponsored by Foam Magazine, ASR’s swim section is packed with a diverse, yet complete offering of swim.

“Reef is extremely excited to be launching our new swim, sportswear & closed toe shoes for spring 08 at ASR this year. It is the perfect market for us to connect with our core accounts along with some of the more fashion forward boutiques,” says Tandi South, Reef girls Sales Manager.

For company’s debuting their brand for the first time, including O’Quinn, Myrtle: Stuff by Russ Pope, Kommunity Project, Stagr, Beloe Footwear, Aftermath and Arthouse Distribution, ASR provides the opportunity to line up with targeted specialty and boutique retail positioning right from the start.

“We specifically chose ASR as the venue for the debut of our line for a few reasons,” explains Dean Quinn, President of O’Quinn. “ASR has its finger on the pulse of the action sports industry, which is where O’Quinn is rooted and it attracts all of the key domestic and international buyers. For these reasons, our participation is vital to the health and growth of the O'Quinn brand.”

More established brands such as, New Era, Mexico’s Squalo and Spyder, among others are reaching out to the growing global action sports buyer pool through an appearance at ASR.

Face time with buyers is especially important to new brands including Infamous Black Sheep, FEW and Sabre Vision, who are looking to open up new doors in their return to ASR. “It's really important to have new brands at ASR, especially for cool hip brands like Sabre Vision, so we can physically trap all those sneaky buyers from across the world in one room and force them to see how funny, tanned and muscular we really are!” says Owner, Brooke McGregor.
