Searching for Solutions, Retailers Look to ASR Seminar Series
ASR puts focus on the economy in building forward-looking, educational seminar series for the times

Known for outstanding speakers and carefully chosen topics, ASR’s seminar series returns in January with a heightened focus on providing business ideas to navigate these trying economic times. Beyond writing orders, retailers and manufacturers look forward to ASR for numerous networking and educational opportunities when the show hits San Diego this January 22nd-24th. Experts from within and beyond the action sports industry discuss topics including staying relevant, surviving the downturn and how to unite as an industry for future success.

“We strive to make ASR both a place to conduct current business and build stronger businesses for the future,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Group Show Director. “Now more than ever, retailers are coming to the show looking for candid insight from brand executives and ideas from peers and to find new ways to manage through the current sales climate. The speakers and topics that ASR has scheduled will offer answers to many questions that industry buyers face today.”

Of the nine educational seminars slated for ASR January 2009, most will focus directly on economic issues. ASR opens with a panel of leading retailers and brands entitled “Thinking Outside of the Box to Stay Relevant in this Market.” The two-hour panel discussion, starting at 9:30AM on January 22nd, will provide ideas, suggestions and plans that retailers can immediately put into action.

“Eco-Nomics II, An Industry United" wraps up the first day at 4:30 with an all-star executive panel. Industry leaders and athletes address the volatile economic climate facing our industry, stressing the necessity for a deeper collective cooperation strategy between brands, events, media and retail to stimulate growth during these economically challenging times.
After lunch on Friday the 23rd, industry analysts, leaders and experts address the top concern on may business owners’ minds, how to “Prepare, Survive and Thrive During an Economic Downturn.” The conversation will include managing finances, marketing, planning, time management, human resources, buying trends and more.
