On Water Demo Day at the Wavehouse presented by Surfing Magazine gives retailers the chance to test boards before buying
Retailers making the trip to ASR in search of an ‘Ultimate Quiver’ for their store can now test the latest boards at the first ASR On Water Demo day presented by Surfing Magazine. Boards and gear from over 40 brands will be put to the test on the Wavehouse’s barreling wave the day before ASR kicks off, January 21st from 7:30AM-11:30AM.
“The ability to check out a wide variety of surf hardgoods at the show is great for seeing the scope of industry offerings and writing orders, but the ability to test product before making purchase commitments adds a new layer to buyer research at ASR,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Group Show Director. “Our inaugural On Water Demo gives everyone the opportunity to get outside, network, check out product and actually get in the water, while in town for ASR.”
The ASR Ultimate Quiver: On Water Demo presented by Surfing Magazine offers retailers the chance to test the performance and technology of surf hardgoods, wetsuits and accessories. Retailers take to the water on a choice of Wavehouse’s world class barreling wave or just beyond the deck in the Pacific Ocean.
Over 30 of the top board builders bring in the ultimate quiver of quads, fishes, thrusters, SUPs and mini guns for retailers to test. “Our mission is to educate and inspire people to surf better through a deeper understanding of their equipment,” explains Tyler Callaway, Dir. of Business Development at Surf Hardware International. “Having the opportunity to share this in the surf at a tradeshow is powerful stuff for our company. It represents the spirit that our industry was founded on."
Once at ASR, take a pass through the surf section and the Board Builders Pavilion in Hall G to write orders and discuss new trends in surfboard technology. Then cruise next door to the ASEC Green Room to preview new eco-friendlier products and materials. On Friday night at 6:00, The Drop Zone: Tahiti presented by Body Glove premieres in Ballroom 20A. ASR attendees are invited to kick back with a cold one and take in Tahiti’s beauty as surfing and diving meet on film.
Surfing Magazine is working with top surf brands to provide buses from the San Diego Convention Center to the Wavehouse. Contact Tristin.Akahoshi@sorc.com for a pickup before Wednesday morning. The Wavehouse is located in Mission Beach 10 minutes north of downtown at 3125 Mission Blvd, San Diego.
