Fashion Goes Underground on ASR Runway
ASR’s January runway show showcases emerging apparel trends for fall 2009
Experience a “Fashion Revolution” on the ASR Runway as ASR returns to San Diego this January 22nd-24th. Spot next season’s trends first, as edgy looks inspired by the London Underground go in motion Thursday and Friday at 2:00PM in Hall H. Then hit the show floor to preview summer and fall collections from over 60 juniors and young contemporary lines.
“The industry creates increasingly compelling, fashion-forward young contemporary lines and the ASR Runway has become the place for hundreds of creative designers to show off the fruits of their labor,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Show Director. “Fashion is now an integral part of the action sports industry as evident in both the aisles and on the runway. Buyers come to ASR for an all-encompassing look at the youth culture, fashion and action sports markets. The runway is a great tool in delivering that.”
The ASR Runway show draws hundreds of buyers and media outlets from around the world to see what trends and styles will dominate this year. January’s theme of a “Fashion Revolution” evokes an edgier high-fashion runway feel drawing from the London Underground’s streetwear styles. These new looks show a diversion from the omnipresent pop 80’s fluorescents seen on ASR’s spring runway.
“For fall 2009 you can expect to see plenty of plaids, strips and checks, a new take on the unforgettable grunge trend while maintaining fond memories Kurt Cobain fashion influences,” says Adria Heath, ASR Runway Stylist. “The runway is sprinkled with bold primary colors on heavy textured fabrics contrasted by smooth and shiny glam vibrations.”
A mix of core action sports brands, fashion forward, young contemporary lines and emerging designers make up the 60 brands showing juniors at ASR. Preview lines from Billabong, Volcom, Vans, Oakley, O’Neill, Matix, DC, Ezekiel, Element, Reef, …Lost, Rip Curl, O’Quinn, Zoo York, Rusty, Fox Head, Lucy Love, Elwood, Alpinestars, FEW and many more.
The Goldbox Mission and Premise give up-and-coming brands a place to shine. These areas are a must stop for ASR buyers to find what’s new quickly. A central location within a unique atmosphere built to showcase the energy and talent coming up in the industry makes finding new brands easy.
Young contemporary and juniors’ apparel will be displayed on the flirty, fast paced ASR Runway twice during ASR, on Thursday and Friday, January 22th and 23rd at 2:00PM in Hall H. Fashion has found a home at ASR. Find yours at www.asrbiz.com.
