ASA Action Sports World Tour Hits Chicago this Weekend!
This Friday Chicagoans will have the chance to witness the elite of the action sports world when the 2009 ASA Action Sports World Tour comes to Sears Centre Arena. For one night only, starting at 7:30 on May 1st, some of the sports ‘sickest’ tricks will be on display when the industry’s top X Games athletes take to the ramps in the Skateboard Vert and Big Air BMX Triples contests.
Chicago is the third stop of the ASA Action Sports World Tour, which this past weekend visited Minneapolis’ Target Center. Skateboard Vert’s Pierre Luc Gagnon continued his winning ways, capturing his 6th consecutive Action Sports World Tour title while good friend Danny Mayer took second. Mayer placed second to Gagnon at the 2008 LG Action Sports World Championships as well, and is determined to claim the top spot soon. “I want to beat PLG,” Mayer stated from the podium in Minneapolis. Such determination is sure to fuel the friendly rivalry and provide Chicago fans with a show they won’t soon forget.
Big Air BMX Triples will be an amazing treat as well for the Windy City’s audience when top Big Air stars including T.J. Ellis, Austin Coleman and Chicago’s own Koji Kraft take on Cory Nastazio and James Foster, athletes who are widely known for their dirt jumping expertise. ASA’s 170-foot Triples course offers a tempting challenge to all BMX riders, pushing their skills to new heights of progression. Ellis, also a known dirt jumper, has had great success in the Triples discipline, placing in the top three at two of ASA’s Big Air BMX Triples contests with flashy flips and triple tailwhips. With such a talented line-up in this head-to-head format, the competition will be close and the riders will need to “go big” in order to take home the win.
The added bonus of The Used in full concert will cap the evening, giving fans three hours of intense competitive action and musical entertainment for only $20. Tickets to the ASA Action Sports World Tour are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or Sears Centre Arena’s box office, or call 1-800-745-3000 to charge tickets by phone. Advance ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for children’s general admission seats, $35 for reserved Club seats and $60 for reserved premium floor seating, which give fans an up close and personal view of all of the action and a private meet-and-greet with the pros. Tickets are an additional $2 the day of show.
