Dirtball Makes Progress In Europe
The Dirtball Crew headed to Berlin last week for the Bread and Butter apparel show, Europe’s largest and most exclusive fashion event. The 3 day show marked the brands launch into Europe with it Spring Summer 2011 collection consisting of 100% eco-friendly apparel focused around action sports and urban lifestyle. The collection includes hats, knits, socks, jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, shells, pants, shorts and shirts, totaling almost 300 SKUs, making it the largest collection of sustainable apparel from one brand. All of the Dirtball line is made from recycled cotton and recycled post consumer polyester i.e. water bottles. As an example each t-shirt contains between six and seven 16oz. recycled water bottles. Each year in the United States alone some 51 billion water bottles find their way into landfills.

• Each Dirtball T-shirt contains 6-7 16oz. water bottles.

• Recycled cotton doesn’t take the manual labor or land use that is required for conventionally grown cotton. It takes twice as much land usage to produce the same amount of organic cotton as conventionally grown cotton.
• The majority of the organic cotton is produced in Asia and shipped to the U.S. offsetting any environmental benefits due to the transportation resulting carbon footprint.
