Renowned Skier Dean Cummings Chooses Helly Hansen to Outfit H20 Guides

Helly Hansen announced today a two-year partnership agreement with H2O Guides, a world-renowned professional guiding company, to outfit the operation’s professionals with technical apparel from head to toe beginning this season and extending through 2013.

Legendary professional ski mountaineer Dean Cummings founded H2O Guides in 1995 in Valdez, Alaska, and is recognized for trail blazing a number of first descents in Alaska’s backcountry.

H20 Guides is one of the world’s most respected guiding companies. Cummings pioneered helicopter skiing in Alaska and his H20 guides provide guiding services in South America, Japan, Utah and Alaska.

“Dean Cummings is one of the most experienced professionals in the business,” said Marshall Rutman, marketing manager for Helly Hansen North America. “He is a product developer in his own right and no one puts product through its paces like Dean and his crew. His field testing will play a valuable role in developing future Helly Hansen product.”

Helly Hansen has been outfitting outdoor professionals ever since they created the first supple waterproof fabrics in 1877. The H2O Guides uniforms are drawn from Helly’s professional-grade Odin Series of jackets, pants, insulators and base layers designed for long-term wear around rock, ice, snow and rain.

“Helly Hansen is a perfect fit for us. Our guides need outerwear that will protect them from the harsh elements we see in the Chugach range,” said Cummings. “It has more glaciers and snow than any other place in the world and we need our guides and clients to have equipment capable of taking their endeavors to the next level. We’ve been really impressed with the quality of the Helly Hansen gear we’ve been testing and we’re confident in Helly Hansen’s ability to keep us warm, dry and comfortable when we’re out accessing the goods. “

H2O’s guides will wear Helly Hansen throughout their Alaskan heli skiing season, as well as at steep camps in Alaska, Utah, Argentina and Japan, and during their American Mechanized Ski Guide courses for training top-level heli ski and snowcat guides.
