Bo Bridges Newsletter
Deep in the heart of the Joshua Tree Desert lies the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center also known as 29 Palms. This was the location Bo had exclusive access to, to shoot some of Rockstar energy drink's new ad campaigns with Brian Deegan. Check out the little video of the moving tanks. Bo got to direct the entire scene and move the tanks around to facilitate the best angles and compositions.
Jumping off the pier in Hermosa Beach could lead to a $500 dollar fine. But with a little clearance Bo shot from below on his paddle board and then went up and jumped with the Hollywood stuntman for this feature story in Beach Magazine. Notice the shots of Bo taking pics. He had to jump backwards, basically blind while focusing and shooting before impact. Luckily the shots were nailed on the first try both times.
TOYOTA GRAND PRIX
Saatchi and Saatchi LA hired Bo to shoot the new ad campaign for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. It took the sand castle builders a few days to assemble the masterpiece. Bo shot the sand sculpture and composited the sky into the shot during post production at his studio using one of his stock images.
When the wind gets super crazy and there's solid surf it's time to hit the water. Jared Sayers from Moon Tide Media jumped at the chance to surf just south of the Redondo Pier when Bo mentioned it would be a wild time to shoot. It rarely breaks here and on this particular day it was breaking one after another.
Bo was shooting video with the RC heli for The Agency and Wicked + and brought in three models from Wilhelmina. After the heli shoot in Hollywood they ventured down to Venice Beach.
SEQUOIA GOLF GROUP
Pauma Valley Country Club is a private golf course located in Northern San Diego County. The signature course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr has been listed as a top 100 club in the U.S and top 10 in California by Golf Digest. Bo got to play all 18 holes and shoot the cover for the IN Play magazine's latest issue.
Old School meets new school! Bo was invited and flown back out to discuss photo and video to the art students at Miami University where Bo graduated in 1996 with a BFA in Photography. The lab was basically still the same with the B&W chemicals and dark rooms still being used by the students. Bo encouraged all the students to take more business classes and try to envision both video and stills while shooting because the future seems to be uniting the two! The image of Bo in a wetsuit was taken in 1995 at a car wash fund raiser for the art department. It still hangs in one of the class's today.
HOME DEPOT CENTER
AEG owner of Home Depot Center, LA Live, Staples Center etc. commissioned Bo to create an installation in the main lobby of the Home Depot Center using images he has taken over the years along with others from their archive. The length of the wall was 25' long by 9' tall. Bo had about 27,000 square inches to work with. He gathered over 400 images and worked closely with Katie Pandolfo, General Manager, HDC to narrow down the selects and create the layout that would showcase all that the facility has to offer. Bo wanted to use both action and lifestyle along with aerial images that captured the entire area that houses stadiums and facilities for soccer, tennis, track and field, boxing, cycling, volleyball, baseball, football, and softball along with world class concerts and events. The project began in Dec of 2012 and was completed on April 26th 2013.
