VIDEO: Ryan Tuerck Gets First Go in the Gymkhana Escort
October 21, 2015
Yesterday Ken Block and the Hoonigans revealed an all new project—The Gymkhana Escort. Today, Hoonigan is happy to announce that fellow Hoonigan driver Ryan Tuerck will be piloting this revamped 1978 Ford Escort Mk2 RS in its competition debut at the Monster Energy Gymkhana GRID event this weekend at Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom. Hoonigan tapped top Formula Drift driver Ryan Tuerck to fill the seat, as Head Hoonigan in Charge (H.H.I.C.) Ken Block will be occupied defending his AWD title in the Ford Hoonicorn RTR.
"Ken and the Hoonigans have given me an amazing opportunity to slay tires in one of the raddest cars ever built,” says Ryan Tuerck. “The Ford Escort Mk2 is a legendary rally car and this build is the ultimate mash up of old and new and JDM and Euro…I absolutely love it. I have always wanted to compete in the Gymkhana GRID events and I'm stoked to travel to England and give it my best shot against some of the finest drivers in the world. It is so cool to rep the Stars and Stripes on the hood of this bad ass Gymkhana machine.”
To prepare for this event, Tuerck joined Block for a day of Gymkhana testing in the Escort at Grange Motor Circuit in the California desert. This was only the second time Tuerck got a chance to get behind the wheel of the Mk2 before heading across the pond this weekend to compete. Watch the link below to see how Tuerck and the Escort performed at Grange.
