EMP: Hookit Appoints Carl Thomas as New Chief Revenue & Business Development Officer

Hookit, a digital platform created to support and connect athletes, brands, events and agencies has named Carl Thomas as the new Chief Revenue & Business Development Officer. Thomas brings more than 25 years of senior management experience to the company.

A proven leader in the sports, media, and entertainment industries, Thomas has experience with companies ranging from entrepreneurial ventures to multi-billion dollar public firms. He most recently was the CEO of X-1 Audio (a Steelpoint Capital portfolio company), and prior to that CEO of Flashpoint Sports and Entertainment, LLC, a holding company and consultancy in partnership with and funded by private equity firm J.H. Whitney Capital Partners.

“Hookit is a terrific platform for athletes to understand the value they bring to the table for brands and vice versa,” said Thomas. “I have seen the windfall from the proper alignment of media, brands, agencies, events and athletes over the course of my sports marketing career, and I look forward to building upon Hookit’s success by developing and strengthening new partnerships with a diverse range of businesses.”

Thomas also has a prolific background as an athlete. At UCLA, he was a nine-time NCAA All-American in swimming and a two-time NCAA Water Polo Champion. After college, Thomas began his sports marketing career with Speedo Swimwear and in 2009, was inducted into the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame as the acknowledged creator of the Olympic Triathlon format (1500m Swim, 40K Bike, 10K Run).
