NIGHT : SHIFT and Oakland Community Celebrates Opening of New Oaklandish Marriott Suites

Last night, NIGHT : SHIFT, Oaklandish and approximately 250 guests from the community gathered to celebrate the opening of the new Oakland Marriott. The celebration highlighted the completion of the $22-million-dollar renovation project as well as the cultural legacy and support of the Oakland community.

The evening kicked off with Oakland Council President Lynette Gibson conducting a ribbon cutting ceremony as guests checked out the new amenities of the hotel and enjoyed the new Iron & Oak restaurant and bar. Event goers also had the chance to tour the new Oaklandish themed suite curated by NIGHT : SHIFT. The evening also included live dance performances by TURFinc, a live Oakland-themed mural demonstration by graffiti artist Vogue, and a chance for guests to be part of the Oakland Marriott history by signing the breezeway painted wall.

 The new Oaklandish suite curated by NIGHT : SHIFT, exemplified Oakland civic pride through its unique décor and contemporary look and feel. Each item in the suite was carefully crafted and designed by Oaklandish and NIGHT : SHIFT to pay homage to the culturally diverse history and love for the Oakland community.
