Smith Releases Limited: Quantum Helmet

November 30, 2016

Built for the avid alpine enthusiast and designed with intention focused on an increase in safety awareness, impact protection, and durability, the new Quantum helmet from Smith integrates top proprietary technologies and partner innovations like AerocoreTM construction featuring Koroyd®, MIPS impact protection liners, new Wayfinder strap system featuring Fidlock®, and the Boa 360 Fit System to deliver maximum assurance with the best comfort, fit and function on the market.

The unique exoskeleton design is comprised of hybrid ABS bombshell construction offering zonal side-impact protection and in-mold rear paneling to reduce weight while providing improved impenetrability for athletes pushing the limits of snow riding.

The new proprietary Wayfinder strap system featuring Fidlock® offers easy-to-use adjustability for getting your helmet on and off. Through the use of a magnetic closure that can be adjusted with one hand while wearing gloves, the Wayfinder strap system provides an intuitive connection for easy closure. The adjustment system also eliminates any leftover webbing when tightening the strap. For the most custom fit, the Quantum also offers the Boa® FS360 fit system with a 360 ° halo design that is recessed into the liner for improved fit across a wider audience.

Maintaining our commitment to ultimate integration and focusing on exceeding the current global standards of protection across all categories in one design, Smith continues to utilize the combination of EPS foam with Koroyd® materials which provides increased impact protection and superior ventilation over EPS alone. All colorways also feature MIPS® liners to address multi-rotational impacts, which have been uniquely laser cut in key climate zones to allow airflow through the material while maintaining the ventilated integrity of Koroyd.

With the addition of AirEvac ventilation for superior goggle integration, and featuring 22 vents across the helmet, adjustable through dual regulators, the Quantum also provides a complete airflow solution for high-energy mountain excursions.

The new Quantum helmet (MSRP $300) is available now in limited quantities and colorways at select specialty retailers and online at
